Tubtim

Tubtim

Born around 1947, her name means ‘Ruby’ or ‘Pomegranate’. Tubtim arrived to ENP in September 2014 from Phuket.

Thanks to funds donated by Khun Kanjana Nuna Silpa Archa, the 60-plus-year-old lady was rescued from trekking.

Although she had not worked for many months, this exhausted pachyderm was still kept at the trekking camp and at night was supported by a harness to keep her from laying down and being unable to stand back up.

Tubtim’s back legs are very weak and if she does lay down, she cannot get back up without assistance. She has worked in many areas in Thailand throughout her life and spent 30 years working in logging.

Now happily settled in at ENP she is a devoted gran-nanny of Navann, though keeping up with him is an effort. Tubtim is one tough old gal, and though fragile she is feisty!
