Tong Kham Adjusts to Elephant Nature Park

This tall beauty, Tong Kham, was rescued just under six months ago from a trekking camp that had to close their business.  The day she was rescued, January 23 of this year, was one of urgency so that she would not go to yet another trekking camp.  At age 67, she is blind in her right eye and both of her back legs injured with a huge abscess on her left hip.  Upon her arrival, she was underweight and malnourished.

Today, Tong Kham is adjusting very well to Elephant Nature Park and isn’t afraid to show it!  Since her arrival, she has put on a healthy weight and clearly loves her new home.  Every once in a while, you can see her running through the fields from group to group, exploring the property paving the way and leaving her mahout not far behind in the dust.

You can help Tong Kham by becoming her sponsor at https://www.saveelephant.org/product/elephant-nature-park-sponsorship/

  1. Your gift to these elephants creates vast amount of merit. I pray that one day I experience an elephant, it’s smell, feel, and its trust.
