Sook Sai
Her name means ‘Pure Happiness’. She was born around 1964.
Sook Sai arrived to ENP 18 January 2015 from the Surin Province. She was rescued from neglect and forced breeding.
Sook Sai has a badly broken back left ankle which caused an uncomfortable ride for tourists. After too many complaints she was moved to street begging. Again there were complaints as most people thought it was inhumane for her to walk the streets with an injury like that. From here, she was taken back home and put in a forced breeding program. It is not known whether she became pregnant or not. She was left chained and often went without food and water.
Sook Sai has aggressive tendencies toward people and other elephants so she spends most of her time alone. She does have a soft spot for Navann and enjoys playing with him whenever she has a chance.
