“This is one of a few herds who live along the Indo- Nepal border. It is almost the end of Migration . The herd is trying to move their family, weaving their way through many villages and trying to enter the Kolabari Forest . Every year this herd will migrate from one place to the other, but every year their passage becomes more difficult, with road development, railway lines, tea plantations, each restricting safe and steady movement. Their home and habitat is decreasing each year. Everywhere their safety is compromised by high voltage electric fence, blade fence , tools and traps designed to deter or harm them. “
The conflict between humans and elephants can be isolated into one human impulse: selfishness .
Wild elephants are rarely living free and safe . In all their ranges throughout the world , their lives are intruded by humans. But in every area also, there are those who commit themselves to their preservation.
