Elephant Nature Park Announces New Elephant
This week, Save Elephant Foundation headed down to the annual Surin Elephant Roundup with a plan: to rescue an elephant. And, we did just that.
Thanks to the generous donation from two previous volunteers, Matt and Chantelle — and also the organizers of Ride Bikes, Not Elephants, a 4,000 km ride through Australia to raise awareness regarding the plight of the Asian elephant, as well as funds to rescue one — we were able to rescue Sai Rung, a 35-year-old female from Northern Thailand. Like Medo, Sai Rung has a broken leg, as well as injuries to her hip. She has worked both in logging and street begging.
We will have more details to bring to you soon.
Welcome to Elephant Nature Park, Sai Rung!
