Khampan, one of our old ladies passed away.

Morning 23rd Nov, 2019, one of our old elephants, Khampan passed away.

Khampan is one of Navann’s nannies. Since Khampan has been slowing down, moving cautiously every day between her old shelter and crossing the river to be with her beloved young boy. She loved the time passing by with the irrepressible Navaan by her side. Recently, as age issues suggested, we built a new shelter for her to stay next to Navann all the time. She was happy for that, and her mahout, moved to stay next to her also.

Early morning Goh found her laying down under her shelter, and gone to her final rest.

At the Park, we have four old ladies who are under a watchful eye, and special care now.
Bua Kham, also one of Navann’s nannies; Yai Bua, our grand old lady; Saza, the most remarkable transformation; and Malee, Khamla’s old nanny who also dotes on Manau, Khamla’s principal nanny. All of them are in their old age. Their energy can be up or down each day. Our team works hard to keep them strong and healthy.

Kham Pan was a beautiful and gentle elephant. In her latter years, she had the care of a child, which few captive elephants ever experience. Her love for Navann had no bounds.
