Elephant of the Week :Mae Kham Paan

Mae Kham Paan was born in 1940. Her name means ‘One Thousand Gold’. She was rescued from life of logging and trekking. She arrived at Elephant Nature Park in 2009 and was very thin with each rib  visible.

Within one year of her arriving at our park she gained a significant amount of weight and was  confident and energetic. Though solitary for many years, Mae Kham Paan is now primary gran nanny to Navaan.

Sadly, two years ago she lost her right ear following an infection. Due to her age she has lost all her teeth and also suffers from digestion problems. Mae Kham Paan now eats a special soft food diet of peeled watermelon, banana and rice balls.

She is a very kind, generous  and patient elephant. Kham Paan
