Elephant Heros

Two years ago, this group of students -Emma, Logan, Katie, Aidan, Morgan, Abby, Lily, Piper, and Julia- from Ichabod Crane Central Middle School in Columbia County, NY (including the towns of Valatie, Chatham, and more to come) has decided to raise awareness on the Asian elephant.  They are not only spreading awareness by informing people on the plight of the Asian elephant and what the elephants must go through to be in the tourist industry, but they chose to become a non-profit Corp., so they could send all the money to Elephant Nature Park.  They make pins, hair bands, beautiful coasters from pics taken from an Elephant Nature Park volunteer, sew pillows, homemade baked goods, etc.  They have raised over $2,000 for Elephant Nature Park in the last campaign. Then they will begin a new fundraiser on Sat, 11 June. They have received recognition letters from Obama, Hillary, Chelsea, and Bill Clinton for their achievements in helping these endangered animals.  They deserve a round of applause for being such wonderful ambassadors for these magnificent animals.
