Mae Perm
The first elephant to be rescued by ENP in 1992, her name means 'To…
This is a small new window into the Journey of an Elephant named Lucky, a blind elephant that we rescued from the circus some years ago. We recently introduced a new rescue named Mee Boon to Lucky, who had not long ago become solitary, after the loss of Boonma and Bualoi, her best friends. This big loss made Lucky very sad. Mee Boon was also blind and alone. She struggled a lot as in the past she was forced to work very and was isolated due to the loss of her vision.
When they Meeboon came to ENP we made her Lucky’s neighbor by putting her next to Lucky’s shelter with the hope that they would build the bond and heal each other’s heart. Their friendship did not take long to forge. They walk side by side all day, and continually check on each other. They stay close to each other. They eat, walk, have a bath and play in the mud pit together. Lucky is no longer lonely. Neither is Meeboon. They fulfill each other’s emptiness with love and connection they have. Life always has a chance to begin again, if we do not give up on that. Every elephant deserves the chance to live happily with others.
