Kham Sai arrived to ENP in June 2005. Her name means ‘Clear Gold’. She was born around 1956 and rescued from trekking and illegal logging.
When we first discovered Kham Sai she was suffering from a severe infection and covered in gentian violet which is a topical spray to help heal wounds. She was walking from the camp she had been working at to a place where she would meet a truck which would transport her to the hospital. After around 6 months of treatment, she had recovered. Soon after that, her new life began at ENP.
Kham Sai is a very shy and troubled elephant who does not trust people or other elephants. She spends most of her time alone. She is at her happiest when she is in a quiet place along the river or in the jungle where there is no one to disturb her.
