Jaidee

jaidee

Born around 1947, her name means ‘Good heart’. Jaidee arrived to ENP 25 January 2015, rescued from Goh Phanga. Jaidee had been owned by a resort who decided to close down their elephant camp as a result of the new Animal Protection Law that was enacted in December 2014. She spent most of her life working logging and illegal logging. After the logging ban in 1989, she worked in trekking, was leased for wedding ceremonies and played polo.  Jaidee is thin and worn out, but is lucky to have no broken bones and still has sight in both of her eyes.  Now settled in at ENP, Jaidee stays mostly by herself, not yet connecting with any of our other herd members
