During the process of delivering food to elephants throughout Thailand , we have done research of the problem in each area.
We will try to find many possible ways to help the elephants, but certainly to secure a long term food supply by sustainable communal plantations is paramount.
We announced to many mahouts and elephant owners of SEF’S long term project plan to support every elephant owner to plant a long term food resource for their elephants. As the COVID19 crisis has devastated the tourist industry throughout the world and created an economic upheaval that will be slow to heal , yet the elephants must eat, and no small amount.
It is a duty to plan and prepare for them, to secure their health and well being by our own plantations.
By the funds donated to SEF , we would share our care for the elephant in every region of Thailand.
If the owner agrees to join our project, then we will provide grass and fruit trees to plant ; we would also hire the local community to work these fields and manage crop development and harvest as well.
Since our announcement, we already have approximately 50 percent of elephant owners to register with us .
We hope that they all will agree to bring self-sustaining elephant plantations to every place that has the elephant living.
On behalf of SEF, I would like to thank all of those who contributed to our organization, enabling us to bring a fund to help over 1600 elephants at this time in Thailand.
