Herbie’s and Lawan’s Happy Tale

And here is Herbie’s and Lawan’s Happy Tale! Thank you so much Christine, we couldn’t be happier for the both of them!!

Although the two are with us for 2 1/2 years already, I did not want to miss the opportunity to tell their story and give an update about them. Some of you people might still remember them. Herbie and Lawan are originally from a shelter in Bangkok, that´s where I met them years ago. Herbie came to this shelter in 2006 as a puppy together with his mum and 12 siblings. All siblings got adopted, only Herbie and his brother Zade never found a home. Herbie had some difficulties with humans, some biting issues, he needs time to trust people. Zade was very bad with other dogs, also cats. So both brothers had limited chances. Lawan came to the Bangkok shelter as a puppy as well, during the heavy floods in 2011 together with her sisters Kulap and Djai Dee. When the Bangkok shelter was closing down in 2012, Darrick, Khun Lek and the ENP team decided to take them to Chiang Mai to the brand-new dog section they just founded for the dogs which were left during the flooding. What a relief as their future was very uncertain. That´s when I started my regular visits to ENP to keep contact to my good old friends. With 3 dogs already at home there was no way to take some more, but I always had the idea to take Herbie and Zade to our home. When 2 of our dogs and Zade passed away we decided to take Herbie to our home to see if a life as a family pet would suit him. And Lawan joined as I always loved this sweet and soft girl a lot. It was the best decision we ever made. Both settled in very fast without any issues. Now in August we will celebrate Herbie´s 11th birthday and in September Lawan´s 6th birthday. And over the years we found that in fact Herbie is the more soft of the two and Lawan is full of energy and can be a little devil as well, especially when it is related to things she believes she owns.? We love them both to pieces and they are a wonderful team together. I hope, we will still have many years all together and can not thank ENP enough for giving them a home and taking care of them when it was so urgently needed.
