Beautiful – MUST READ!
It’s a beautiful post in German, I took the time to translate it. It’s long, but it’s worth reading it, it’s beautiful:
Our eyes met as she was looking into the cages, terrified as she was walking down the aisle. I felt immediately what she needed and that I had to help her.
I was wagging my tail, but not too much, I didn’t want to scare her. As she was stopping next to my cage I distracted her glance from the small accident in the corner of my cage. I didn’t want her to know that nobody had taken me out for a walk today. Sometimes the staff in the shelter are so busy and I didn’t want her to think bad about them.
As she was reading my card on my cage I was hoping that she wouldn’t be too sad about my past. I only have a future, I look ahead and want to change someone’s life.
She knelt and sent me a kiss. I pressed my shoulder and my head against the bars to comfort her. Her fingers ruffled my neck, she so desperately needed company. A tear ran down her face and I lifted my paw to make her understand that everything will be ok.
Soon the doors of my cages opened and her smile was so beautiful that I jumped into her arms right away.
I promise to watch over her, always.
I promise to be with her, always.
I promise to do everything that is necessary for her to keep that smile and the sparkle in her eyes, always.
I was lucky that she walked down that aisle. There are many, that don’t walk down the aisle. There are many that need to be saved.
I managed to save at least one of them.
I saved a human today.
