Dou Long’s Happy Tale

AND HERE DOU LONG’S HAPPY TALE!! Thank you so much Marleen for your neverending support to our project!

My ENP visits started back in 2009 when I started volunteering with the elephants. In 2012 I decided to help with the dogs and adopted Cho Cho who is living with me and my Soi Dog Nori since July 2013. In January I visited ENP again and as usual I walked into the run where I met Cho Cho. Just to feel the atmosphere, sit among the dogs, give them some attention and cuddles. And there she was! Dou Long. A gorgeous long hair scruffy dog. She jumped straight into my heart. I knew I wanted to help her and find her a forever home. Together with the support of Sabrina we started the adoption process. In the meantime I looked for a suitable home. I met Gea and Ben many years ago. A lovely couple who took care of dogs their whole life. Their last dog Asha passed away suddenly a year ago and they still miss her deeply. When they saw the photo and heard the story of Dou Long, who already lived at ENP dogs for five years, they knew they wanted to give her a loving home and family. The 1st of July Janet and I picked up Dou Long from Schiphol Airport. She stayed with me for six weeks due to circumstances and half of August she moved to her own family, her own forever home with Gea and Ben. And she is settling in great! She loves Gea and Ben. Dou Long needed to get used to Ben but now she is totally fine with him. She loves her walks and all the attention she gets. Visitors in the house is a bit scary but she is already doing much better. She is spending her days covered in love and attention. Dou Long likes to be with Gea when Gea is making paintings and she loves making nice walks alongside the canal with Ben. A better home I couldn’t wish for this special lady and I am as happy as Dou Long that Dou Long and Gea&Ben found each other.
