The Sweetest Happy Tale Ever, Tom

AND HERE IS TOM’s HAPPY TALE, written by our youngest member so far! Thank you Duncan, we love the poem!!!

Since I was little, I have wanted a dog, and a few months ago when I volunteered at ENP, I met the perfect puppy. His name is Tom. When I saw him it was love at first sight. Before the week of volunteering was over, we had already adopted him.
Once Tom got home to Colorado, he was not feeling so well; he wouldn’t eat and he wouldn’t play. But luckily, after about a week and a half, he was acting cheerful. He is now going to dog parks, hiking, and coming with us everywhere. He absolutely loves our acre backyard and runs around in it all the time like a crazy puppy.
We call him “The best dog ever” and I fully agree; he is the perfect size, fuzzy, doesn’t shed and is very playful. Here is a poem that I wrote for him:

Tom

A dog of sweetness, a dog of wisdom
No other dogs can mess up his system

On the trampoline, then in the back house
Around the hay piles, looking for a fat mouse

He started humble, then one day he had known
That he would be staying, that he was home

Whining and crying, all through the night
Looking for someone, to calm his fright

Everything smelled good, everything was clean
Not like those elephants, that he had seen

No balls, not for sweet little Tom
I think it’s because, he is to calm

He lies, and naps, and sleeps all day,
And when he’s not, he’s out to play

When he goes outside, he sleeps on the berm
But moves around, as not to burn

When I see him, I rub his ear
I am happy, that I have him here
