Peso’s Happy Tale

AND HERE IS PESO’s HAPPY TALE!!! What a great and enjoyable read, thank you so much Elise!!

Hi Sabrina!
Thanks for checking in! I meant to send an e-mail last week, and then just got too busy and forgot!
Peso is awesome πŸ™‚ He’s such a perfect dog. He sleeps right through the night, never barks, love to play with other dogs and looooves to be outside and go for walks! We had some issues with chewing the cupboards and eating his own poo immediately after doing his business, but thankfully both issues seem to have resolved themselves (with some help from the vet and Coprophagia!). He’s growing SO fast, to! I think he’s going to be a big boy πŸ™‚ I would love to get his genealogy tested at some point. We just love him to bits <3
He’s such a hard dog to get photographs of, so most of what I have are videos! I’ve attached some photos I like and a video of him playing in the snow for the first time πŸ™‚
When we first brought Peso home to Canada, I was so nervous that he would be incredibly anxious and stressed out after such a long plane ride and arriving in such an unfamiliar place. Much to my relief, and surprise, he was as happy as could be– he sniffed and explored enthusiastically and basically just moved himself right in!
Peso isn’t much of a cuddle you, want belly rubs, play tug kind of guy. More than anything else, he likes to be off on his own, chewing on sticks and running around outside, digging holes and exploring the world. When we first brought him home, he jumped and put his paws up on the bathroom counter and stared at himself in the mirror for about 10 minutes straight! Now, he’s pretty much obsessed with his own image so every time he catches a reflection we must stop so he can check out that handsome dog looking back at him. He was also very curious and a little bit unsure about the TV initially, which was pretty hilarious. Even now, sometimes he will lay there and growl at it and run behind it to check what’s going on back there.
Peso is just the happiest little (BIG and growing!) puppy, and he is a whole lot of puppy! He has no idea just how big he his, nor does he have any sense of his orientation in space yet, and he’s often knocking things over with his tail. He’s all energy, all the time, and so he’s finitely keeping us in shape!
One of my favourite stories of him is when we brought him over to meet my mother and her dog Fergus for the first time. Peso was soooo happy to play with another dog, but Fergus just wasn’t too sure about this big hyper fuzzy thing coming in and stealing all the attention. My mother keeps a big basket of Fergus’ toys in the back room on the floor. It didn’t take very long for Peso to find it, and he started collecting Fergus’s toys by bringing them into the kitchen and dropping them into a pile in the middle of the floor. He would run to the toy bin, grab a toy and drop it off one at a time in the centre of room as Fergus anxiously supervised, turning his head back and forth, back and forth to watch Peso as he continued to add to the pile. Once there were about 15 toys in the centre of the room, Peso grabbed a Nylabone, laid on top of all the toys and proceed to chew on the bone while laying on all of his new treasures. Fergus looked up at me worrying and let out a slight whimper as if to say “Why are you letting this happen!?”. Peso noticed the whimper, for up and ran over to give Fergus kisses! Since then, Fergus has warmed up to the little guy and will play ball with him when we go over, and he’ll readily give up his toys when the new puppy comes over to visit πŸ™‚
All in all, Peso is just perfect, and I am so grateful to everyone at ENP and the Dog Project for everything they do to give these pups a second chance. I can’t imagine life without the little guy, and the whole experience of meeting him at the park, falling in love and bringing him home just melts my heart πŸ™‚
Thank you again for all of the hard work that you do!!
-Elise
